We have been using our "Gilli" since September 2021. "Gilli" is our new Amberg SlabTrack GRP 1000 track measuring wagon. We have big plans for it and, as we all know, big things can be measured in small things. Our declared aim is to ensure that, at the end of the day, every coffee in the on-board bistro stays where it should, even at 300 km/h, namely in the cup.

Our "Special Surveying / Infrastructure Projects" team is currently also using the track measurement vehicle to monitor the S21 construction project in section Lot A. Sebastian Schütze, Armin Schopp, Christopher Drescher and Yannik Leippert have received intensive training and are experienced in using the new instrument.

Sebastian Schütze, Bachelor of Engineering Surveying / Geoinformatics, pictured here with a bright cap, explains the areas of application: "We see great potential with the Amberg SlabTrack GRP 1000 for the specific requirements surrounding our tasks. For example, in testing tracks, setting up fixed tracks and in the final inspection. Is everything installed as it should be?"
For seven years, our colleague Sebastian Schütze has been dealing with everyday and very special requirements, such as plant relocations and machine relocations. He enjoys familiarizing himself with new technologies. He explains the technical capabilities of the track measuring trolley: "The device measures the track gauge of the track with its gauge meter. It is also equipped with an inclination sensor for measuring cant and a hodometer, i.e. a distance meter. This allows us to measure the track geometry in relative terms and also while the track is moving. With a tachymeter, connected to the device via radio modem, we can then also determine the absolute position."

Sebastian Schütze and his team are already working with great enthusiasm and experimentation with the new technology. They are looking forward to many more exciting challenges in the future. Each of them is different and that's what makes them so interesting.
