Description of the project:
We offer grid surveying services and associated grid documentation services for a wide range of energy suppliers, particularly in the Brandenburg region. Our services are essential for grid planning and grid information.
The current process of surveying and generating the digital field book is very time-consuming and error-prone in parts. With the introduction of a new smartphone technology and the use of AI methods, we want to significantly improve and shorten the processes.
Until now, a surveying team has traveled to the construction site where a section of pipeline was laid and measured the corresponding lines, e.g. electricity and gas lines, using a total station or a GPS system. In the future, the survey will be carried out completely digitally using a smartphone in combination with a GPS system. The integrated lidar sensor and a special application in the smartphone will provide us with further essential data for our clients: The media situation and the construction trench are documented as a 3D point cloud including images and relevant attributes are saved.
To generate the digital field book much more easily and quickly, an AI is to be trained to automatically recognize all relevant information from the 3D point cloud and save it as CAD objects. The generated objects could then be imported directly into the network information system with all attributes.
Specification of the objectives and the (expected) results of the project:
Our plan is to develop the new approach in four phases. In phase 1, we will analyze the market for data collection using innovative smartphone technology. In phase 2, the so-called test phase, we will carry out test runs on various construction sites with the most suitable and innovative technology for Hemminger. Phase 3 is planned as an introductory phase lasting approx. 2 months. We adapt processes and train the relevant colleagues. Training in AI and object generation will take place in the final phase, which will last around five months.
By using the new smartphone technology and integrating AI, we see a time and financial savings potential of 30% - 40%. In addition, a completely digital process increases the quality of the data as a basis for network planning and network information.
